Page 17) Chapter 12 - trial samples of chosen design

Chosen design for the resolved sample
Out of the paper designs of extreme contrasts this was my favourite - I particularly liked the colours and shapes of this design. The design is back on to the wrong side of corrugated card.
I have made trial samples based on the 2 outer edges of the design (corrugated card and scratched paper). I'm due to work on some trial samples for the mid blue salt paper and the dark blue gel paper before deciding which ones to use in the resolved sample.
This is a close up of the design. Here you can see the pale blue scratched paper; the mid blue salt paper and the dark blue paper with lines of gel paint.

The following are samples based on the scratched palest blue colour paper

Organza with twin needle stitching - some with cord - then placed over polyester and machine zig-zagged.

Polyester twin needle and cable stitched. At the moment pinched together using pins.

Polyester - twin needle and cable stitched - then gathered up at sides

Layers of fabric - tucked and slashed - then machine cable zig-zagged

These are my samples based on the outside corrugated edge of the design.
Twin needle on both sides of polyester

Twin needle stitching on both sides of corduroy

Cocktail sticks in corduroy - zig-zag cable in between

Tucked corduroy using cocktail sticks
